Our Mission

Migraine Outreach is committed to advancing migraine education, awareness, and advocacy across Africa. Our mission is to bridge the knowledge gap among healthcare professionals, workplaces, and communities by promoting evidence-based information and improving access to quality care

Our Vision

We envision a future where every individual in Africa has access to migraine education and compassionate support, eliminating stigma, improving quality of life, and ensuring that no one suffers in silence.

Migraine is more than just a headache—it’s a serious neurological disease that affects millions, yet in Sub-Saharan Africa, it remains misdiagnosed, undertreated, and often overlooked.

As a pharmacist deeply immersed in the migraine space, I have had countless interactions with healthcare professionals and migraine patients, witnessing firsthand the struggles, frustration, and silent suffering of those living with this condition. Every day, I saw people seeking help, only to be overlooked, misdiagnosed, or given ineffective treatments.

The global health focus is shifting from infectious diseases to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), but migraine and headache disorders receive little attention—especially in Africa. According to the recent Global Burden of Disease study, migraine is:

The #1 cause of disability among children and adolescents (ages 5–19).

The #2 cause of disability in adults aged 20–59—impacting people in their most productive years.

Despite this, migraine awareness, research, and treatment options remain scarce in Africa.

This is why we founded Migraine Outreach—the first organization in Sub-Saharan Africa dedicated to raising awareness, improving education, and advancing research on migraine.

This initiative is not just about statistics; it’s about the real people I’ve met—students unable to focus, parents struggling to care for their families, professionals forced to leave their jobs, and individuals battling relentless pain without answers.

Migraine should no longer be an invisible disability in Africa. It’s time to change the narrative. It’s time to bring migraine out of the shadows and ensure no one suffers alone.
